When talking about Lapu-Lapu City, first thing that will come to our
mind is Datu Lapu-Lapu having a Shrine in Mactan which mainly a tourist
spot in the city. Yet we having something in store for you, not just a
sight seeing of the “Historic Resort City” but also fitness and fun at a
low cost.
My team decided to take our first trip to Lapu-Lapu City with a twist by doing fun and less-cost activities which will not only enjoy the beauty of Mactan but also to have a good shape in body and a sound mind.
Our First Stop is Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City
We started our day 5 in the morning in which is the best time for a morning jog and our center place to meet each and everyone of us.
Quick Fact: The Hoops Dome is an indoor arena in Lapu Lapu, Cebu, Philippines. It was built at a cost of 200 million pesos in 2006. The venue occupies an area of 4,000 sqm. The Hoops Dome was completed in 2008 and was formally opened in July 2, 2011.
It was built specifically as a basketball arena from the former Mayor Boy Radaza which is an avid sports fan. Later on, his wife turned Mayor; Paz Radaza, constructed a skateboarding area on the left side of the building. The site became a destination for sport and recreation activities and the best place to take walk, jog or even do a yoga.
Our Second Stop is Marcelo Fernan Bridge
After few body warming-ups and a jogging, we went to Marcelo Fernan Bridge for a Zumba that is held under the location wherein there is a park intended for recreational activities and a chilling place at night. It is a special place for relaxation and free yourself from stress especially when you go in the morning. The Zumba program starts at 5:30 in the morning and ends at 6:30 A.M and entrance fee is for 10 pesos only. Not just worth the money but for the body.
After the zumba, we went for a little stroll in the place where we have seen lots of people doing their part to have a healthy lifestyle, some are fishing and a man doing tai-chi. My team also went to reminisce our childhood by playing at the kiddie park which went so fun and we feel so young again.
Our Third Stop is Opon Mercado (Opon Market)
After the enjoyable recreational activities from the two place we have been, who will not think of being hungry?
We went to the main market place in Lapu-Lapu City which is the Opon Mercado. It is a single ride of Multicab ( Public Utility Vehicle) it is one mode of transportation which only cost us 7 pesos from the New Mactan- Mandaue Bridge to the Market.
Since this is an adventure, we tasted the local market place puto't
sikwate ( glutinous rice and hot and pure cocoa drink) which cost only 7
pesos and it's delicious and worth it.
Last Stop at Bahia Resort and Hotel
We made our day worth while of all the activities but our journey still did not end. My team went for a fun swimming at the Bahia Resort located at Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City. It is a 30 minute multicab ride from the market which cost only 13 pesos.
The entrance fee cost us 150 pesos which has a food inclusion of 75 pesos and great thing is that cottage is free of charge. My team bought fruits as a part of the meal and the only food that doesn't have corkage fee. They have Corkage charges which from 100 above depending on the food brought, so water and fruits are exemptions.
My team enjoyed swimming especially one of our team is a swimmer which taught us some of the techniques on how to swim. We did not only enjoy the swimming but we also learned something new at the end of the day.
For this trip, we made different things in a day and that it is worthwhile by seeing places and most especially our bodies will benefit the activities we had. We learned lots of things and created friendship and teamwork. Fun and friendship makes it all exciting in the trip and that's the best thing about it.
